Having fun with Victoria and Garrett - Maternity

Victoria and Garrett welcomed me into their cozy character home to capture some maternity photos. I was hoping to capture a few images outside but the weather did not cooperate at all. We received a LOT of snow and temperatures dropped down to -30 with the windchill. They are a great couple and were willing to try anything. Thanks Wylie for participating. Enjoy these images from the session.

These shoes travelled all the way from Italy for this little fellow. Love the color.

I wanted to incorporate this canvas of the Eiffel tower into some photos and learned that it held a special memory for Victoria and Garrett.

Thanks for allowing me to capture your memories.

Another Peek for Lindsey and Ryan

I think this has got to be one of my absolute favorites from the session with Lindsey and Ryan. I couldn't wait to share this image.

Fresh Maternity with Lindsey and Ryan

Recently Lindsey and Ryan moved into a beautiful new home with plenty of windows. It was a great opportunity to step out of my element and complete a session in their home. They are a loving couple and their little one will be welcomed with warm hearts. I hope they enjoy their sneak peek.

Marcy and Joe Wedding

Marcy and Joe said "I do" back in September. I was a second shooter for their wedding photographed by Blackbird Photography. I had not met them before their wedding but was immediately able to see the love between the two of them.

The ceremony was held at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran. We captured a few photos infront of the church and then we were off to a friend's farm to capture more wedding memories. It was at the farm that the wind started to pick up and the skies started to turn grey allowing for some beautiful pictures of storm like skies and a wind blown veil.

Marcy and Joe are a great couple and I am sure they will enjoy many years of wedded bliss.

Happy Halloween!

I have always enjoyed decorating for Halloween. My first year I created a graveyard by digging holes in my front yard, making crosses for grave markers and building an old rickety fence. My husband even enjoyed rigging up a spider that fell down whenever the door was opened and the kids loved it. Last year I created lots of spider webs, bats and witch themed stuff around the entryway (inside and out). This year I stuck to two scarecrows outside, a glowing casper and created a theme on my corner niche. I would have to say my decorating has been toned down since I had my two girls. I now really enjoy the fun of decorating Halloween cookies (wished I didn't have to clean up), carving the pumpkins and doing a ton of crafts with the girls.

The next huge excitement was taking them trick or treating tonight. The girls were both dressed in five minutes, bags in hand and ready to go. We went around the block once and enjoyed spending family time at home while handing out candy.

Here are just a few pictures of our Halloween.

Lady in Red

First of all, I want to thank Sarah for braving the cold this past weekend. We had booked the session before the snow fell but it was a wonderful surprise. Sarah showed up with her beautiful red sweater jacket, white mittens, hat, scarf and the most beautiful green electric violin. Sarah loves music and I hope her images of her violin become priceless to her. I personally love the vibrance of the colors against the white blanket of snow. Enjoy your sneak peek!!

Fall Leaves and Precious Girls

I decided to head out into the fall leaves and take some pictures of my family. My girls love to play in the leaves so I knew this would be a lot of fun. I was in love with the colors of the leaves that day and how the sun was shining down through the trees. It was a cold and windy day and the girls were getting grouchy but I captured some great memories.

The family picture was a struggle as I do not have a remote and Ava had to run with me for each and every photo. I am glad at the results of my family portrait. The expressions are priceless to me.

Morgan in the Leaves

Morgan is a beautiful red haired Blue Lacy. She is full of energy and after a little bit of playtime will cooperate, at least for a short time. I loved the opportunity to photograph her among the golden yellow leaves as this really shows off her color. Thanks for being patient with me Morgan.

Outdoor Wedding for Aaron and Karin

I had the opportunity to be a second shooter for Aaron and Karin's outdoor wedding with Reanna of Blackbird Photography. This couple decided to change from an indoor wedding to an outdoor wedding shortly before the ceremony. It was a beautiful sunny day in September, so why not! Aaron looked amazed by his beautiful bride as she walked down the aisle. The kids were smiling and hugging. Some tears were shed during the speeches. The laughter rang through the trees and the reception hall all day. Love was in the air as Aaron and Karin said I do.

Baby Thea makes 3!!

This is one loving couple that recently welcomed their first little girl Thea. It was a beautiful sunny day on the farm and I was lucky enough to grab the opportunity to capture their first family session. These are a few of my favorites.

Learning Curve

A cousin of ours just got married. I was ecstatic to get the opportunity to use the law of reciprocity on difficult lighting conditions and just have fun snapping pictures. As a guest there is no pressure and the chance to have an abundance of fun. However, the day we are leaving I drop my camera and bust not only my favorite lens but also my camera!!! I have no backup and the camera needs to be sent away for repair. Needless to say, I rush out and purchase a new camera and lens the day of the wedding. Turns out my youngest daughter is a disasterous ball of crankiness and won't let me put her down without crying. To prevent her from screaming during the wedding I hold her on one hip and snap images. Turns out I didn't have as much time or fun capturing images of the wedding with my daughter attached to me. However, I captured a few images that I really enjoy.

Here is to our cousin Mandy and her husband Robert.

I have learned from all of this that my camera is not safe even if it is securely zipped away in a camera bag and that a camera can be easily adjusted to. I enjoy the images that I have captured with only a single thirty minutes to learn how to operate it. Now if only there was a manual to prevent the extreme crankiness of my daughter for a short period of time!!
